The second trip to Newport Beach was a hugely successful event. Max "Purple Jesus" Manthou and Amanda Hendry each earned two gold medals.
One big note from the event was the broadcast production decisions. In 2024, the APP Tour had yet to stream its singles event. That changed for this one.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were all streamed on the APP YouTube channel, APPTV.

The other broadcast change from the norm is that no Championship Sunday matches were live-streamed. Instead, they will be played on linear TV programs in mid-November.
Save the dates for all Championship Sunday action:

Now, let's recap what happened.
Women’s Singles
This was one of two VERY competitive finals matches in Newport this week.
The #2 seed Yana Newell faced off against #1 seed, Amanda Hendry. Newell won the first game 16-14. Hendry came back to win game two, 15-13. In the third game, there were five lead changes, with ten ties, in a nailbiter.
Hendry was able to pull out the victory, 15-13.
Maria Klokotzky beat Shelby Bates for the bronze medal.
Men’s Singles
The two most consistent men’s singles players on tour this year met for the third time in the finals.
Chris Haworth faced off against Grayson Goldin. Haworth won his third gold over Goldin this year, winning 15-7, 15-9. This marks Haworth’s seventh gold medal in 2024, and Goldin has earned six total, with four silvers.
Haworth dominated his competition all weekend long. He didn’t drop even one game to the competition. The final tally of points for Haworth this weekend was 120-76 - an amazing feat in rally scoring.
Jack Foster beat Ryler DeHeart for the bronze medal.
Mixed Doubles
Two new partnerships showed up on Championship Sunday in Newport Beach.
Mixed doubles was the craziest event of the week, with upsets all over the place, including:
- Rd 16 - Domenika Turkovic and Zack Taylor beat #3 seed Daria Walczak and Ryler DeHeart
- Rd 16 - Ryan Torresin and Amanda Rosati beat #4 seed, Andre Mick and Arielle Butler
- QF - Kyle Koszuta and Nicole Eugenio beat #1 seed Rob Nunnery and Jill Braverman

Amanda Hendry and William Sobek beat Koszuta/Eugenio for the bronze.
Women’s Doubles
The new partnership of Amanda Hendry and Simone Jardim earned the #1 seed and took on #2 seed Yana Newell and Rianna Valdez.
Hendry and Jardim took a quick lead, winning game one, 11-8. Then Valdez/Newell flipped the script, winning 11-8. It came down to an extremely tight game three, with Hendry and Jardim barely winning, 12-10.
This was Jardim’s second gold medal on tour this year in women’s doubles and Hendry’s first.
Riley Bohnert and Daria Walczak won the bronze medal over Jill Braverman and Natalie Raney.
