Pickleball Is the Key To a Happy Workplace - At Least At This Company In Minnesota

Most people have to sneak out to go play pickleball during the workday.

That's not the case for employees at Room & Board, a Minneapolis-based furniture retailer. Back in 2013, they installed a pickleball court on the first floor of their office building with a simple goal: to create a happier, healthier work environment.

The result? A resounding success.

Since the court's debut, the game has become a favorite among employees, and its popularity has skyrocketed, especially in the last two years.

Nancy Manley, Room & Board’s Chief People Officer, emphasized creating a workplace fostering well-being.

"We don’t want people coming into the office and sitting on video calls all day," Manley told CNBC. "Work should be fun."
