Pickleball Is the Key To a Happy Workplace - At Least At This Company In Minnesota
Most people have to sneak out to go play pickleball during the workday.
That's not the case for employees at Room & Board, a Minneapolis-based furniture retailer. Back in 2013, they installed a pickleball court on the first floor of their office building with a simple goal: to create a happier, healthier work environment.
The result? A resounding success.
Since the court's debut, the game has become a favorite among employees, and its popularity has skyrocketed, especially in the last two years.
Pickleball in the office
Nancy Manley, Room & Board’s Chief People Officer, emphasized creating a workplace fostering well-being.
"We don’t want people coming into the office and sitting on video calls all day," Manley told CNBC. "Work should be fun."
She added, "To have happy, healthy, and productive employees, you need to give them the space and tools to take care of themselves. Pickleball is just another outlet for people to de-stress and sweat a little."
Of course, we have just one question for Nancy, "Are you hiring?"
