Sap's Sports Drinks Take an Entirely Different Approach to Hydration
I've never thought for too long about the sports drink category: are sugars bad for me or what? What even are electrolytes?
It's no wonder I didn't care much about those seemingly-trivial questions. I'm a recent first time parent, and lately, I haven't had much time for such introspections and analysis, even though I live a fairly active lifestyle.
In addition to, you know, caring for another living thing, I typically complete the following physical tasks in a given week:
- high-intensity workouts (weightlifting & circuits), 2-4 times per week
- pickleball, at least once per week (more once we're used to our new familial addition)
- mowing a very steep grass-covered hill in our yard, once per week
- the usual running of errands...but now, with less sleep to fuel me
Suffice it to say: now that I've been a parent for over a month, I'm starting to realize the importance of hydration and extra energy in my life.
I recently tried a sports drink that makes my new way of life feel a little more physically tolerable.
Unlike typical sports drinks loaded with artificial additives, preservatives, and simple sugars which break down quickly in the body, Sap's takes a holistic approach to nurturing the body with hydration and energy.
An electrolyte-first approach
One of the standout features of Sap's is its carefully balanced electrolyte formula.
Electrolytes are crucial for hydration, and Sap's ensures you get the right balance with a foundation based on coconut powder.
This underrated ingredient is a delicious superfood powder made from fresh coconut milk is packed with vitamins, iron, calcium and magnesium and helps ensure rapid absorption of electrolytes within the bloodstream.
No added sugar
Sap’s formula uses a balance of coconut powder and monk fruit for just the right amount of sweetness with no added sugar.
Adaptogens as stress-relievers
As a first time parent, the stress-relief element of Sap's was bound to be my favorite part of their formula...and an uncommon one in the sports drink category.
They've included adaptogens from natural plant and mushroom extracts that help your body deal with stress.
Research has shown that adaptogens combat fatigue, enhance mental performance, and ease depression and anxiety.
Personal preference
Sap's offers a range of flavors, including Passionfruit, Lemon Lime, and Blackberry - Citrus.
The Passionfruit flavor in particular stands out to me for its subtle sweetness and refreshment, unlike the often overpowering fake passionfruit found in other food items.
I normally drink lots of water in my day-to-day, but with Sap’s, I genuinely feel a difference in my overall health and happiness. It easily replaces that infamous hydrating drink that begins with a 'G' for me, and I'm sure it will do the same for you.
