Travis Rettenmaier Doesn't Hold Back After Witnessing One of the Worst Line Calls You'll Ever See

by Jason Flamm on

Never one to hold back his thoughts, outspoken pickleball pro Travis "The Rattlesnake" Rettenmaier called out the California Black Bears (a Challenger Level Major League Pickleball Team) for one of the worst line calls you'll ever see Thursday at the MLP Mid-Season Tournament.

You can watch it here:

It was a match between Rettenmaier's team (he's an owner and player), the Florida Smash, and the California Black Bears. In a mixed doubles game, with the score tied at 17, Michelle Esquivel called a ball out that was well in – which has been a hot topic lately in the world of pro pickleball.

Rettenmaier took to Instagram to voice his frustrations and make some pointed comments about his opponents.

"You're all culpable. All of you cheated," Rettenmaier said.

The referee did not see the ball, so they could not confirm, and instant replay was unavailable because the event had to move indoors due to inclement weather.

The head referee validated the call as "out," and the Black Bears won the match 21-17.

Both sides were adamant about the call, and Travis took exception to the fact that none of the Black Bears sideline were willing to admit that they even saw the ball, much less admit that it was indeed in.

Your Guide to Hooking Like a Pickleball Pro
Do you know what hooking means in pickleball? It’s not what you think and it happens more frequently than you think.

Shots were fired and several people from the pickleball community responded on social media, including Chris Cali, the host of the "Sorry Not Sorry" Podcast, which has a segment called Hooks of the Week:

No word yet as to whether Travis has received those free cases of Coca-Cola he asked for.
