Chairman of RPG Enterprises, Harsh Goenka, recently tweeted about his new passion, playing pickleball. According to Forbes, Goenka has a net worth of $2.4B. Which helps answer the question, what would you do if you had a billion dollars? Keep playing pickleball but maybe in more expensive places using a brand new paddle for each game.
RPG Enterprises is Mumbai based industrial and services conglomerate, meaning that do they a little bit of everything. Their flagship business is CEAT Tires, a tire manufacturer in India, but their ownership includes 15 different companies ranging from information technology to life sciences. It’s only a matter of time before there is an RPG pickleball company producing paddles, balls, or some product or service in the pickleball game.
This isn’t the first billionaire we have heard of playing pickleball. Bill and Melinda Gates also talked about loving the sport in a 2019 CNBC article.
Gates previously told CNBC Make It that she and her family also like to relax by kayaking, going to movies together and playing “a crazy game called pickleball,” which is similar to badminton or tennis, but played with paddles and a light plastic ball. It’s favorite of suburbanites, and according to Melinda, of the Gates family.
“We are huge pickleball fans,” Gates said.
